Our work with the SMF on immigration

As part of our ongoing work with the Social Market Foundation, Opinium looked in-depth at attitudes around immigration and the economic trade-offs that a more restrictive policy may force.

  • Do overall levels of immigration matter less than the concept of “having control”?
  • Should certain sectors (such as health) be prioritised when deciding who should be allowed to move to the UK?
  • What specific economic trade offs do the public think are worth it if they allow the UK to reduce levels of immigration?

The SMF report can be found here.

The data tables that formed the basis of the report can be found here.
