Voters give their verdict on the NHS
Half (51%) of likely voters thought that the state of the NHS had worsened over the last 5 years, while only 19% thought that it had improved. With results differing along party lines, Conservative voters were the most likely to see an improvement in the NHS since the Coalition took office, being equally divided with 36% saying it has improved vs. 36% saying it has worsened.
Voters for minor parties such as the UKIP and Greens were the most likely to say that the state of the NHS had got worse over the last 5 years (64% and 63% respectively said it had got worse).
Labour most trusted on the NHS
Considering this it may not be too surprising that 34% trust Labour most to look after the NHS compared to 25% for the Conservatives.
More interesting is that despite the bad headlines about the NHS at the beginning of this year, slightly more trust the Conservatives now than six months ago when we last asked this question (25%, up from 21% in July).
However, Labour still retains a clear lead of 9 points on this particular issue, and the headlines of recent weeks have probably had relatively little effect on the polls either way.
Opinium Research carried out an online survey of 1,975 GB adults aged 18+ from 27th to 30th January 2015. Results have been weighted to nationally representative criteria.
