Rising global inequality and the 1%

Looking forward to 2030, a third of the UK believe the very rich ‘1%’ will have the most power to direct or influence the behaviour of others or the course of events.  This places them above national governments (28%), international organisations e.g. the EU (15%) and businesses (11%).

63% of the UK believe global inequality to be growing, with 35% saying they think it is growing rapidly.

While 34% of those surveyed said the super-rich would have the most power, 28% opted for national governments. Furthermore, looking at main concerns that may happen as a result or rising inequality, 43% say they would worry about super-rich enjoying unfair influence on government policies and 41% say they would worry about rising levels of corruption.
