Parents are concerned that their children eat too much sugar

Research conducted by Opinium on behalf of the Children’s Food Trust has found that half (50%) of UK parents believe that their children consume too much sugar.

When it comes to fast food and sugar, children tend to pester parents to allow them to eat these unhealthy items. Two in five parents (40%) find it difficult to say no when their child or children pester them for sweets and fast food. These parents would like to reduce the amount of sugar in their children’s diets by cutting down on the chocolate and sweets that they buy, banishing sugary squash from the house and buying different breakfast cereals.

Most parents are concerned about the food that their children eats, nine in ten (86%) parents are worried about their children’s food habits, particularly younger parents whose children are aged four to seven.
