Driving licence for drones supported by majority of Brits

Our research for UK tech firm Nominet revealed that nearly three-quarters of UK adults think that flying a drone should require the equivalent of a driving license. A further 17% think that drones should not be sold to the general public at all.

Brits are concerned about the rise of drone use, with 92% saying there should be restrictions on who can own one. Over a third (37%) believe that the government should set up a body to manage drone ownership.

Their concern is not unfounded, with two thirds of drone enthusiasts saying that had filmed a person or place without permission and over half of the drone owners surveyed also revealed that they had crashed their drone.
