Calls to provide free sanitary products in schools across the UK

10% of young women cannot afford sanitary products, according to our research surveying 1,000 14-21 year olds in the UK on behalf of charity Plan International UK.

Opinium, on behalf of Plan International UK, looked into young women’s ability to afford sanitary products.

In addition, 14% have borrowed sanitary wear from friends due to financial strains and a fifth (19%) have had to change to a less suitable sanitary product due to cost.

As a result, there have been growing calls for councils to introduce free sanitary products in schools across the UK.
